About the Role
Shropshire Built is seeking an experienced framing carpenter to construct building frameworks and structures according to construction plans. Responsibilities include using plumb bobs and levels to ensure precise alignment, building window and door frames, staircases, and flooring, and installing temporary supports as needed.
The ideal candidate can interpret blueprints, understands building codes and safety regulations, and demonstrates strong problem-solving skills. A successful framing carpenter ensures high-quality workmanship and completes tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately measure, cut, and shape lumber, wood, and other building materials.
• Attach building materials using screws, nuts, and bolts.
• Erect temporary structures such as scaffolds and hoists.
• Construct walls, floors, doorframes, staircases, and roofs according to blueprints and specifications.
• Ensure structures are level, plumb, and securely anchored.
• Repair damaged or structurally unsound framework.
• Operate and maintain power tools, hand tools, and other construction equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers and team members to meet construction deadlines.
• Analyze blueprints and drawings to determine structural dimensions.
• Inspect materials and structures to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.
• Follow all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Identify potential structural issues in construction plans.
• Examine building materials for defects.
• Clear carpentry debris and waste from job sites.
• Provide guidance and training to junior carpenters as needed.
• Construct wooden concrete forms to support concrete structure installation.
Requirements
Basic Carpentry Tools to Start (Tool Purchase Program available for Qualified Candidates after as little as 2 weeks).
Valid Driver's License.
High school diploma or GED.
Transportation to and from job site.
Employment Eligibility
Ability to Pass Drug and Background Screening
Solid understanding of building codes and safety regulations.
Physical strength and stamina.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Proficiency in handling hand and power tools safely.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Associate's degree in carpentry or completion of a carpentry apprenticeship (preferred).
